SUAANC – SILLIMAN SUNDAY

Starting the Year 2000, Silliman Sunday worship service has been celebrated to coincide with the Silliman University Founder’s Day celebration.

Silliman Sunday was held August 24th at Faith Community Church

United Church of Christ in Oakland, California.  SUAANC thanks Faith Community Church United Church of Christ in Oakland for hosting Silliman Sunday.

A very inspiring worship service was led by our First Vice President elect Rev. Bladimir Paeste.  Rev. Bladimir Paeste’s message was on “Courageous Women” based on Exodus 1:8-2-2:10; Romans 12: 1-8 and Matthew 16:13-20.

Special Music was given by the Silliman Alumni group of Northern California and  sang the anthem “Beautiful Saviour” conducted by Perla Bernardez and accompanied by Marion Taglucop Maningo. Larry Bernardez gave a good history, activities and purpose of the Silliman University Alumni Association of Northern California.  History of Silliman University was printed on the bulletin for non Sillimanians information.  Special offering was taken for the scholarship fund of Silliman University’s School of Divinity.

The Silliman group was warmly received by the members of the Faith Community Church with a very grand buffet lunch at their social hall.
