Programs & Projects:

 

A Programs & Projects Committee was appointed to create committees to plan and implement programs and projects to help realize the aims and purposes of the Association.  The over-all Chairperson is Rolando (Dodong) Magdamo.  The different committees, their chairs,  co-chairs and functions are as follows:

 

The "Special Fund Raising" Committee is responsible for making plans to raise special funds through yearly pledges and donations to finance the Associations' special projects.  The committee is envisioned to be composed of a "pool of sponsors and donors" coming from the  Alumni, Friends of Silliman University, Oustanding Silliman Awardees and others.  Mrs. Evelyn Abad and Dr. Efen Padilla are the co-chairs of this committee.

 

The Regional Area covered by the SUAANC has been divided into strategic "zone areas" for better coordination of dissimating and implementing the programs and projects of the organization.  The proposed programs/projects include: fellowship meetings; membership campaigns; SUAANC "junior  club membership"; "penny-in-a-jar"; car wash; & sale of recycled bottles/cans.;etc.

 

The appointed Areas Coordinators and chairs are as follows:  Stockton/Sacramento/Elk Grove area - Charito Lopez & Lilia Magdamo;  Fremont/San Jose/Salinas/San Jose - Perl /Larry Bernardez & Dorothy Dowlen; Vallejo/Vacaville/Fairfield - Rev. Paeste & Je Ygnalaga; and San Francisco/Oakland - Metzie Katada & Judy Merced.

 

Several Committees on Special Events and Socials have been created.  The committees and their chairs include the follwing: (a)  Forums, Seminars, Panel Discussions - Dr. Efren Padilla  (b)  Sports (volleyball, softball, bowling, tennis) contests - Je Ygnalaga;  (c)  Talent Shows - Dodong & Maria Chan;  (d)  Essay Writing Contest - Ven Uriarte;  (e)  Field Trips - Ralph Catacutan;  (f) Trips & Cruises - Evelyn Abad;  (g)  Cooking/Baking Sessions - Gigi Swezey & Company; and  (h)  Raffles  -  Emiliano Ygnalaga.

 

The International College Student Exchange Scholarship Committee is responsible for exploring the  possibility of sponsoring an exchange scholarship program of a college student from a university here in the US and a college student from SU.  The co-chairs of this committee are Dr. Efren Padilla and Larry Bernardez.

 

The International High School Student Exchange Committee is reposible for exploring the possibility of sponsoring a student exchange program between a US high school student and SUHS for one month.  The co-chairs of this committee are Nap Ambayon and Rolando Magdamo.

 

Donation of Audio-Visual Materials to SU Audio-Visual Department.  This committee is responsible for going over appropriate audio-visual educational materials to be donated to SU.  Co-chairs of the committee are Nap Ambayon and Rolando Magdamo.

 

The SUDS "Tabang-Tulong" Project and the Silliman University Sunday Services  co-chaired by Rev. Frank Beltran and Rev. Bladimer Paeste.
